High-Altitude Wines and Art Among the Mountains

Best time to visit
Year-round

A journey through the Calchaquí Valleys bringing together high-altitude wines, remote landscapes, and James Turrell’s light installations.

A visit to a historic high-altitude winery combining wine tasting, a tour of the property and access to the world’s only museum devoted exclusively to the work of James Turrell.

Reaching Colomé is part of the experience. The road winds through mountains and small villages of the Calchaquí Valleys before arriving at this remote estate, set 2,300 meters above sea level. Here stands Bodega Colomé, founded in 1831 and recognized as the oldest continuously operating winery in Argentina. The visit explores the history of the estate and the winery, revealing how altitude, climate and wide temperature variations shape the character of its wines. The experience is completed with a tasting of labels produced from vineyards located between 2,300 and 3,111 meters above sea level.

We can include this experience in a tailor-made itinerary, with carefully selected accommodation, transfers and other activities.
