Estancia San Lorenzo
Nature and rural history on Golfo San Matías, beside a vast penguin colony.
Explore
Explore one of the wildest corners of the Patagonian coast, among cliffs, pristine beaches and a resident colony of elephant seals that lives at Punta Ninfas year-round.
The excursion begins in Puerto Madryn, from where we travel approximately 90 km southeast into one of the most remote sections of the Chubut coast. The service operates in sedan-type vehicles or minibuses. At Punta Ninfas we encounter a landscape of great cliffs with panoramic ocean views, pristine beaches and natural rocky tidal flats. We also discover the surroundings of the historic Punta Ninfas Lighthouse, which has long served as a navigational reference at the entrance to Golfo Nuevo. The experience continues on foot. Accompanied by the guide, we approach the coastal area inhabited by a resident colony of southern elephant seals. The animals remain at Punta Ninfas throughout the year and can be observed in their natural environment, always from a prudent distance and with respect for their space. Depending on the time of year, and purely as a chance encounter with nature, southern right whales and orcas may also be seen passing offshore. As the wildlife is completely free-ranging, these sightings cannot be guaranteed. After exploring the area, we return to Puerto Madryn.
