Estancia Colomé
Hidden in the Calchaquí Valleys, Estancia Colomé offers one of northern Argentina’s most distinctive experiences. The property combines a historic colonial estate, high-altitude vineyards, one of the country’s oldest operating wineries and a landscape defined by silence and the scale of the Andes.
A stay here offers a much deeper way to enter the world of Colomé than a simple winery visit. Days can include tastings, walks, horseback rides and time exploring the estate, while the kitchen works with regional products and ingredients from its own garden and farm.
The property is also home to the James Turrell Museum, devoted entirely to the work of the renowned American artist and now one of the major cultural attractions of this remote area of Salta.
Location
Estancia Colomé is located in the Calchaquí Valleys of Salta Province near Molinos, in a remote setting of vineyards, mountains and high-altitude roads. Reaching Colomé is part of the experience: distances and road conditions require advance planning and make it best incorporated into a broader itinerary through the Calchaquí Valleys.
The Accommodation
The boutique hotel has only nine rooms: seven Junior Suites of approximately 40 m² and two Master Suites of around 55 m².
All have a private terrace or balcony overlooking gardens, vineyards or mountains. Interiors retain a colonial-hacienda aesthetic, and the stay is completed by regional cuisine, wines from the estate’s own winery and activities across the property.
Why We Like It
Because Colomé rewards the journey to a truly remote place. It is not simply a wine hotel: it brings together landscape, history, contemporary art and one of the country’s oldest winemaking traditions.
We especially like the nine-room scale and the possibility of visiting the James Turrell Museum without ever leaving the world of the estancia.
