El Chaltén

Estancia Bonanza

Just 12 kilometers from El Chaltén, Estancia Bonanza spans 8,000 hectares of mountains, forests, lakes and rivers at the foot of the Cordillera del Bosque. Its setting offers an unusual perspective of the Fitz Roy massif and a sense of isolation rarely found so close to town. The estancia's story began in 1983, before El Chaltén was founded, when a family settled on this land to raise livestock. Today it retains that rural spirit while combining it with accommodation and experiences designed to reveal Patagonia from within. Horseback riding, trekking, mountain biking, climbing and via ferrata routes explore different natural environments across the property, while the cuisine celebrates regional flavors and the tradition of cooking over fire.

Location

It lies only 12 km north of El Chaltén on Provincial Route 41, between the Río de las Vueltas and Río del Bosque. The property spreads across a mountain-ringed valley with views of the northwestern face of Cerro Chaltén—Fitz Roy. Its location offers complete immersion in the Patagonian landscape without being too far from El Chaltén.

The Accommodation

Estancia Bonanza offers an authentic yet comfortable way to experience Patagonia, surrounded by nature and privileged views of the Fitz Roy massif. Its welcoming summer pasture houses combine rustic architecture, wood and large windows, while communal spaces invite guests to share regional cuisine and the spirit of estancia life. It is an intimate, warm experience deeply connected to the landscape.

Why We Like It

Because it reveals El Chaltén from a different perspective: away from the activity of town and in direct contact with Patagonia's immensity. We appreciate its small scale, personal service and the ability to combine rest and country cooking with horseback riding, hiking, cycling or climbing. More than accommodation, it is an experience that preserves the identity and pace of an authentic Patagonian estancia.
