El Chaltén

Chaltén Camp

Between native forest and the Río de las Vueltas, Chaltén Camp offers a different way to experience the Patagonian landscape. The camp has twelve private geodesic domes, spaced far enough apart to preserve privacy and the feeling of being alone in nature. Premium Domes provide panoramic views of Fitz Roy, while Deluxe Domes are sheltered within the forest; all include a private bathroom and wood-burning stove. A large communal dome for breakfast and dinner, private trails and riverside relaxation areas complete the experience.

Location

Chaltén Camp is immersed in Patagonian forest approximately three kilometers from the village of El Chaltén. The Río de las Vueltas borders the property, a granite wall shelters the camp and Fitz Roy rises on the horizon. The setting offers seclusion without being far from town or the main trails of Los Glaciares National Park.

The Accommodation

Twelve private geodesic domes accommodate two or three guests and connect to the shared spaces by wooden walkways. Premium Domes prioritize open views of Fitz Roy, while Deluxe Domes offer a more sheltered forest experience. Every unit has a private bathroom and wood-burning stove. A large central dome houses the lounge and dining room for breakfast and dinner. The elevated terrain is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

Why We Like It

Because it offers the experience of waking in the forest with views of Fitz Roy without giving up a comfortable bed, private bathroom and the warmth of a wood-burning stove. We especially value the small scale and generous distance between domes. For the strongest visual connection with the mountains, we recommend a Premium Dome facing Fitz Roy.
