Trekking to Martial Glacier
A mountain hike to the base of Martial Glacier, with panoramic views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel.
From US$ 120
The experience
The base of Martial Glacier is reached via the road through the hotel reserve in the upper part of the city, just a few minutes from downtown. The trek begins with an ascent that follows the former Martial Glacier ski slope. The route passes through the highest part of the Fuegian forest. The trail continues alongside the meltwater stream flowing from the glacier. Leaving the vegetation behind, the route continues over sections of loose rock and ice. If time and conditions allow, lunch is enjoyed either at the base of the glacier or at the viewpoint, with its impressive views over the city and the Beagle Channel. The return follows the same trail back to the transport that will take passengers to their hotel.
