Puerto Blest, Cascada de los Cántaros & Lago Frías
Sailing among forests, waterfalls and glacial waters
West of Bariloche, Nahuel Huapi opens the way towards a landscape that becomes increasingly humid, green and remote.
The experience
The day begins with transfer to Puerto Pañuelo, where the navigation departs westward along Brazo Blest of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Along the way, we pass Isla Centinela, where the remains of Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno—an essential figure in the creation of Argentina’s national parks—rest. After approximately one hour of navigation, we arrive at Puerto Cántaros. Here begins a walk up a stepped trail immersed in Valdivian rainforest towards Lake Los Cántaros. Along the way, several viewpoints reveal waterfalls descending over rock layers to form Cascada de los Cántaros. Back on board, we cross to the opposite shore and disembark at Puerto Blest, where there is time for lunch and to enjoy the surroundings. Guests who choose to extend the experience can add Lago Frías, sailing its distinctive green waters and enjoying a privileged view of Cerro Tronador’s three peaks.

The place
The route begins at Puerto Pañuelo and sails west along Brazo Blest of Lake Nahuel Huapi. The landscape gradually changes until entering a Valdivian rainforest environment, home to Puerto Cántaros and Puerto Blest. Lago Frías is available as an extension, with distinctive green waters linked to the glaciers of Cerro Tronador.
Why we love it
Because it shows a different side of Bariloche. Here the lake is not the only protagonist: the navigation enters between mountains until reaching a much wetter landscape, covered in vegetation and crossed by waterfalls.
Where Nahuel Huapi meets rainforest, waterfalls and glaciers.
