The experience
Prepare to cross the mountain range. This excursion moves through a variety of landscapes, always accompanied by the forest. Leaving Ushuaia, the route passes the industrial area and skirts the base of Mount Olivia. Ahead rises the impressive Sierra Alvear with its permanent snowfields, at whose feet stretches the vast peatland of the Carbajal Valley, later known as Tierra Mayor and Las Cotorras. As the road passes Rancho Hambre, the main ascent begins. At 430 meters above sea level, Garibaldi Pass offers an exceptional view of Lake Escondido.
