Catena Zapata: The Blending Games
A participatory experience exploring the art of blending inside one of Mendoza’s most iconic wineries.
The experience changes the visitor’s role: instead of observing, it invites you to taste, compare and participate.
The experience
The experience is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm and begins with a private transfer from a centrally located hotel to Catena Zapata in Luján de Cuyo. At the winery, we begin with a welcome and guided visit that introduces the winemaking process and the work behind each label. Then comes the tasting. Rather than focusing only on finished wines, we taste different components used in blends, exploring how expressions of terroir and grape varieties contribute distinctive characteristics to the final result. With this knowledge, The Blending Games begins: a hands-on workshop in which each participant can experiment with the available components and create their own combination with professional guidance. Once the blend is created, we evaluate the final result, compare the different creations and conclude the experience from a perspective much closer to the work of a winemaker. At the end, the private transfer returns us to the hotel.

The place
The experience takes place at Catena Zapata in Luján de Cuyo, one of Mendoza’s leading wine regions. In this wine-focused setting, the experience explores how different grape varieties and terroir expressions can be combined to find the balance of a blend. More than a conventional winery visit, the space becomes a small sensory laboratory where guests taste, compare and experiment.
