Horseback Riding & Criollo Barbecue | Maipú
Ride through the rural landscapes of Maipú, among vineyards, olive groves and views of the Andes, and complete the experience by sharing an authentic Mendoza-style criollo barbecue.
The experience
The experience is available at two times: in the morning, approximately from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or in the afternoon, from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. From the city, we travel approximately 30 minutes to Lunlunta in Maipú, entering a rural landscape surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Once there, we prepare for a horseback ride of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. We use gentle, well-equipped horses and are accompanied throughout by a professional bilingual guide. On horseback, we cross Lunlunta’s agricultural landscape, following areas near the Mendoza River and enjoying views of the hills and the Andes. Along the way, we can see Mendoza’s vineyards up close and understand how climate and altitude shape this productive landscape. After approximately an hour and a half of riding, it is time to share an authentic criollo barbecue. The meal begins with empanadas, followed by grilled meats with salad and dessert. Drinks and one bottle of wine for every two guests are also included. At the end of the experience, we return by vehicle to centrally located hotels in Mendoza.

The place
The experience takes place in Lunlunta, Maipú, approximately 30 minutes south of Mendoza city. It is an agricultural-rural setting where vineyards and olive groves follow the course of the Mendoza River, with hills and the Andes forming part of the landscape. This is a different side of Mendoza from the large wineries: quieter and more rural, ideal for discovering on horseback the productive landscape that defines the region.
Why we love it
Because it brings together two elements closely tied to Argentine identity: horses and barbecue. The ride offers a relaxed way to explore Mendoza’s rural landscape, while the meal afterwards turns the outing into a fuller, more social experience.
