The stay
On the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Las Balsas began as a family home and still retains an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. Its unmistakable blue façade, warm interiors and the constant presence of the water create an experience deeply connected to the landscape. A member of Relais & Châteaux since 1995, the hotel combines accommodation, Patagonian gastronomy, wellbeing and guided activities. The original lodge and its design villas offer a choice between the historic character of the house and greater privacy within the forest.
Location
Las Balsas stands within a private 15-hectare nature reserve on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, only two kilometers from Villa La Angostura. Native forest, protected shoreline and a private pier create an unusual sense of seclusion so close to town. Bariloche Airport is approximately 80 kilometers away.
Why we love it
Because it retains the spirit of a private lakeside home despite decades as one of Patagonia's most recognized hotels. We love that Lake Nahuel Huapi is not merely a view but a constant presence.
